Did you know #DYK Schmatta means "rags".
It was funny how we came up with this name! We wanted the name to be cute and catchy. Something simple and straightforward. Then we thought about fabrics, textiles, and rags! Which lead to us think about how we always wanted to build something up from nothing. To share our love of what we do with others!
In this case, it was to design cute and adorable Jewish clothing. BAM, here we are, The Schmatta Shop! We felt that from nothing, you can always make something beautiful. And together, we as a community can help start up companies that continue to support other companies in our community. This is why we wanted to make sure a portion of our proceeds gets donated to local Jewish charities.
The Community Light Bulb
Community is important to us, especially when we go through the Oys and Joys in our lives. Whether it be happiness or pain, we still need to share the "feels."
During COVID, it was amazing to see our community banned together to raise donations, volunteer for meal drop-offs, or make daily phone calls to check in on our seniors living on their own.
